Democracy, critical thinking and diverse discourse are the heart and soul of higher education. Academia has a crucial role in shaping the character and perceptions of graduates towards their full participation in civil life by instilling democratic norms of fairness, justice, equality and diversity. In addition, academia plays a leading role in shaping public norms and values, a role it must not relinquish.

Public Statement Guidelines for the Hebrew University Community

A document that details the values and principles that are the lifeblood of the university, such as tolerance, free speech and responsibility, and offers guidelines for their implementation. The document was drafted by a committee which included :

Dean of Students Prof. Guy Harpaz, VP Strategy and Diversity Prof. Mona Khoury, former Hebrew University Rector Prof. Barak Medina, Deputy Rector Prof. Lilach Sagiv, Legal Counsellor Adv. Anat Tal, and Director of the Diversity Unit Sharon Ben Arie.
